The Prescription Drug Card is available to residents of Atchison who are without health insurance, a benefits plan, or have prescriptions that are not covered by insurance. The card is free to all residents, regardless of age, income, or existing health insurance. Cards can be printed online or picked up at various locations in Atchison. The Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF) provides a number of services formerly offered by SRS. These include public benefit programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as the Food Stamp Program, and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). DCF oversees protective services for children and vulnerable adults. Vocational rehabilitation services encompass assessment of vocational skills, development of plans for employment, and arrangement for services to become employed. Disability determination services are available. The department is also responsible for determining Medicaid eligibility.

It provides civil legal advice and representation at a reduced cost to income eligible individuals. NEK-CAP is a community action agency. It can assist survivors of traumatic brain injury and caregivers in identifying community services that will enable individuals and families to attain critical skills, knowledge and attitudes to achieve self-sufficiency. Some of its programs and services include case management, food commodities, Head Start, weatherization services, Section 8 Housing, and budgeting assistance. It can provide emergency rental and utility assistance in special circumstances.

Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansas (SHICK) is a free program offering individuals who are Medicare-eligible or Medicare beneficiaries an opportunity to talk with trained, community volunteers and get answers to questions about Medicare and other insurance issues. Counseling services are available to help Medicare beneficiaries find a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan and Supplemental Insurance.

Working Healthy (WH) is a Kansas Medicaid Buy-In insurance program for persons with disabilities. The WH program allows people with disabilities to return to or increase their work effort without losing critical Medicaid coverage. The WORK (Work, Opportunities, Reward, Kansas) program provides personal assistance and other services for consumers eligible for Working Healthy whose functional limitations would otherwise make them eligible for the Developmental Disability, Physical Disability or Traumatic Brain Injury waivers.
